Indian Democracy-Functional Democracy ?

The great Indian Democracy which we all talk about is yet to attain a status in true sense. In 1947 when we got our freedom and we stepped into the adoption of democratic form of rule, we were still experimenting with what form of government we need to adopt.Which form will be suitable for our country ? This experiment was conducted for the peroid of 10 years with the starlets of our freedom strugle like nehru showing the way. They adopted a mix of socialist idea to run the government in the democratic line, whether they were succesfull or not is a guess & a call we all can take on our own.
My take on this subject is we are still a functional democarcy inspite of being a democratic country for over 60 year,we are yet achieve the democracy in true sense which we all need to strive for.We are still at the starting line of the race with lot to be achieved.
Have we achieved anything ? Yes we have, if we compare it with the countries in our vicinity & our neighbourhood who were born almost at the same time we are better of with a functional government in place, functional judiciary in place & most of the fundamental rights being implements as per the constitition. But we will achieve true democracy only when we have implemented these points :
1.Taking true pride in our country & its system
2.Throwing out corruption from all walks of life-Public or Private
3.When their is no mention of religion/caste in the forms we fill
4.Having a good breed of people as politicians.
5.Decipline in Public & Pvt life.
6.Every citizen is repected for his knowledge & not for his connections/relgion or castes.
I think when these things are implemented we will achieve democracy in true sense & this will lead to over all development of this country.
